Import & Export Options (CSV)
Overview#
Managing a large catalog with dozens or hundreds of colors and custom patterns? With Aris Color Swatch, you can bulk export and import your option value swatch configurations (HEX colors, dual-tone colors, and custom image URLs) across your entire store using a simple CSV file.
Follow this quick guide to bulk update your swatches in minutes!
Step 1: Go to Options#
From your Dashboard, click Go to Options in the setup guide (or click Options in the left sidebar menu).
Make sure you have already clicked Sync Shopify option so your latest Shopify options and values are loaded in the app.

Step 2: Export Your Current Options CSV#
In the top-right corner of the Options page (next to Sync Shopify option), click the Export button.
Your browser will immediately download a CSV file named
options-swatch-export-<your-store>-<timestamp>.csvcontaining all synced options and values across your store.

Step 3: Edit the CSV File#
Open the downloaded CSV file in Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, or any spreadsheet editor. The file uses 5 standard columns (up to 5,000 rows per file):
Column | Required | Description & Example |
|---|---|---|
| Yes | The exact Shopify option name (e.g., |
| Yes | The exact Shopify option value (e.g., |
| Optional | Primary HEX color code (e.g., |
| Optional | Secondary HEX color code for dual-tone swatches (e.g., |
| Optional | Public image URL starting with |
Example CSV:
option_name,option_value,color_primary,color_secondary,image_url
Color,Red,#FF0000,,
Color,Red/Blue,#FF0000,#0000FF,
Color,Floral,,,https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0000/0001/files/floral.png
Save your changes as a standard UTF-8 .csv file (maximum file size: 2 MB).
Step 4: Import Your Updated CSV#
Return to the Options page in Aris Color Swatch.
Click the Import button in the top-right corner.
Select your updated
.csvfile from your computer. The app processes your file immediately and shows a confirmation banner at the bottom of the screen (e.g.,
Imported 120/120 rows), updating your Options table right away.

Extra: How Safe Updates & Priority Work#
Safe Partial Updates: Leaving
color_primary,color_secondary, orimage_urlblank in a CSV row keeps the existing value currently saved in the app—it will not erase existing colors or uploaded files. No Accidental Deletions: Removing rows from your CSV file will never delete options or option values from your store.
Automatic Display Priority: If you provide both HEX color codes and an
image_urlon the same row, the app saves both and automatically displays the Image URL according to the priority order:Image URL > Upload File > Color HEX > Shopify Variant Image
Pro Tip: Rows with invalid HEX codes, broken URLs, or option names/values that do not exist in your synced Shopify catalog are safely skipped without interrupting the rest of your import.
